Today I took Little Miss A to a local toddler group for the first time. I hadn’t really planned on going until after Christmas, however, her walking is so good now I thought we may as well give it a go!
It is one I had been to a couple of times with Little Mr A before he started school so I knew what to expect. It’s not the friendliest but they have lots of toys and always a messy play activity.
When we arrived Little Miss A headed straight for the messy play which was oats. She was most confused though as the tuff spot was on a stand and she couldn’t quite climb in! After that she played with all the toys, balls, babies, cars. It was fascinating seeing her with the dolls. She doesn’t have any at home yet and seemed quite amused at first! Once she had realised there was no milk in the bottle she fed baby and then pushed her around for a while in the pushchair.
Then we attempted some potato printing which I quickly realised was going to be far too messy without a bath to throw her into so I made her come away which didn’t go down well!
After playtime it was singing. Little Miss A tolerated this for a little while but, by this point, she was getting quite tired! Then it was parachute time which again she enjoyed for a short time.
I am pleased we went. It was nice having her leave my side for the first time in a couple of weeks and she is quite a sociable girl, trying to join in with others on occasion.
Knowing that Little Miss A will not be going to nursery as much as Little Mr A (if at all!) I think it’s really important I get her out to these things to start socialising with others as soon as possible. There is another group on Thursday that we will be trying too.
Although it would be nice to find a friendlier group I’m going to stick with it for Little Miss A’s sake if not my own!
As I sit writing this waiting for Little Mr A to finish school, Little Miss A is fast asleep in the back of the car! All that play and singing certainly tired her out!
