It has been a little while since we told you about any new games from Drumond Park. Over the last couple of weeks the Little A’s have been having lots of fun playing one of the newer games in their ever expanding collection, Dig In!
Dig In! is a fun, but tricky, game for ages 8 and up. It is a game that really tests your hand eye co-ordination and your patience!
Game set up is really simple. Pop all of the coloured pieces into the white bowl and give them a mix up. Shuffle the cards and hand one to each player. You can either choose to play with the coloured side where you need to find pieces of a specific colour or play with the grey side where you just have to match the object.
The first player pushes down the 15 second timer and rifles through the bowl with two hands to find as many objects from their card as they can. When the time is up play passes to the next player. Once all players have had a turn it then becomes a free for all! All players can then ‘dig in’ to the bowl (with one hand only) in order to find the remaining items on their card. The first player to find all 6 of their items wins that round. Once one player has won three rounds they are the overall winner.
The rules are really simple to understand but it is really tricky and frustrating! Little Mr A was really quick at finding his pieces, leaving the rest of us pulling our hair out! I am not the most observant person so, trying to find certain pieces in a bowl full of colourful objects was certainly a challenge for me!
The game is for ages 8+, however, I think younger players can play with a little help. Little Miss A was desperate to play too and she did manage to find a few pieces on her own. She completely understood what she had to do and I think, with a little practice, she will be able to play with us properly very soon. Even Baby A had a go and was able to find the odd piece to match the card I had!
Dig In! is a really fun game for the whole family that is easy to understand and quick to set up and play. I would say each game lasted around 15 minutes.
I thought the quality of the coloured pieces was great and they should stand up to a lot of play.
We would definitely recommend this as a fun family game!
