A little while ago we were asked if the Little A’s would like to try out a couple of jackets from the new Children’s range from Berghaus. As we try and spend a fair bit of time outdoors, particularly at weekends, I thought these jackets looked perfect for those windy, rainy days that we have all too many of.
First of all I took a look at the range of boys jackets. I thought there was a good selection of different colours and designs but there was one which really took my fancy which was the Fourstone Parka. I loved the look of the fur trimmed hood and thought the parka style would really suit Little Mr A.
When I took a look at the girl’s range I was a little disappointed there was not as much choice as there had been with the boys range. I did however spot the Ancroft Parka which looked just like the one I had liked for Little Mr A! The girls often wear matching clothes so why not have the big Little A’s matching for a change?!
The jackets start at age 3-4 going up to an age 13. I decided to go for an age up for both Little Mr A and Little Miss A as we are nearing the end of Winter and it would be nice if they lasted into next Autumn/Winter. Am I really glad I did order the bigger size for them both. I have found the sizing quite small compared to other brands. At age 8 ½ the size 9-10 fits Little Mr A perfectly and at 4 ½ the age 5-6 fits Little Miss A perfectly. I would say they are both fairly average sized for their age so would recommend going a size up if you want the jackets to last.
Other than the sizing being a little on the small size, the jackets themselves are gorgeous. They are excellent quality, as you would expect from a Berghaus item, and look really lovely on.
Since the jackets arrived the Little A’s have really been putting them to the test. Our first trip to test them out was to Lincoln Castle. The jackets kept them really warm, even up on the windy wall where the fur lined hoods kept the wind away from their faces.
As well as wearing them on school runs, the Little A’s tried them out on a Sunday afternoon walk last weekend. It was a grey and drizzly day and the jackets kept the Little A’s warm and dry whilst putting up with plenty of running around. I love that I can just wipe the coats down with a damp cloth if they get dirty too, rather than having to wash them each time it gets dirty.
Little Miss A has worn her jacket on many a wet school run and it has kept her really dry. Some coats I find do let in the wet if it is particularly heavy, however, the Berghaus jacket seems to be very waterproof.
Overall we are delighted with the Berghaus jackets. They are warm, waterproof and look great. Although a little more than I usually would spend on a jacket, you really are paying for quality and an item that will last.
Disclosure – We were sent the jackets featured free of charge in return for our honest review.
